NoScript Suite Lite
Brought to you by an "AdblockLite".
And he also makes some "Adblock Lite" & a Flash Block "Plus" (among others).
AMO really needs to change their policies.
A fork, & using a very similar name is one thing, but for an extension to simply ride on the name of another extension...

Moving to NoScript General...

Re: NoScript Suite "Lite"
Decided to disassemble it, to see how deep this rabbit hole goes.
It's written in the Addon SDK... AFAICT looks like it's using entirely its own codebase, which is good.
But look at this:
I would not trust a significant fraction of those...

Probably, if Giorgio chooses to pursue it...typically he doesn't, though.barbaz wrote:Isn't that a trademark violation?
The fact that they're asking for a $10 donation is a bit steep...
Maybe it would be worth Giorgio's time to check it out and make use of bits of it.AFAICT looks like it's using entirely its own codebase, which is good.
Yeah, me neither.I would not trust a significant fraction of those...

Re: NoScript Suite "Lite"
BUMP.
Addons Manager sucks (more so now, like with no readily determinable version numbers).
The Addons Manager "Get Add-ons" feature (something I've never used or even looked at before) sucks.
You do a search & it returns results, but again no readily determinable version numbers.
Do a search for "noscript".
Results display, by default I suppose, "Best match".
#1 "best match" is "NoScript Suite Lite".
I saw that, & it threw me, until I remembered this thread.
After that #1 hit, 14 other items display - none of which are "NoScript".
It is not until & unless you click (the barely visible) "See all 33 results", that you are taken to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ver=43.0.4 at which point "NoScript Security Suite" is (correctly) listed as the first hit.
What, do you need to pay Mozilla (AdWords) to get your keyword properly listed in Addons Manager "Get Add-ons"?
That stinks, & I'd be pissed - at both Mozilla, & this jackleg "Lite".
(BTW, SeaMonkey does correctly return "NoScript Security Suite" as its #1 hit.)
[In FF, not "noscript", not "noscript security", not "noscript suite", not "noscript security suite", takes you to "NoScript Security Suite".]

Re: NoScript Suite "Lite"
Wow! Mozilla forces extension signing, yet their Get Add-ons (& even AMO itself) are going to do nothing but to contribute the the very "side-loads" that they should be looking to restrict.

With NoScript installed or not? This makes a difference last I checked - addons you have already installed won't show up in Get Add-ons.therube wrote:Do a search for "noscript".

Both actually.
Install in FF, not installed in SeaMonkey.
> addons you have already installed won't show up in Get Add-ons
I didn't know that. Especially since I've never used that feature before.
Anyhow, that doesn't make sense (to me).
But I guess it makes sense in Mozilla's mind, where they treat everyone like... well like MS treats its subjects.

Re: NoScript Suite "Lite"
For me, in a Firefox profile with NoScript installed, NoScript Security Suite doesn't show up on the Get Addons search for "noscript".
But in a clean profile, it's the #1 hit.
