[RESOLVED] Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
HI,
I upgraded to FF 40 last night, and on YouTube, left clicking on the blocked flash doesn't play the video. I now have to go to the menu and temporally allow it from Blocked Objects.
I have NoScript 2.6.9.36 and FF 40.03 and Flash 11.2.202.508 (this is the current Linux version, updated 8/7/2015) under openSUSE Linux...
Thanx!
Rod

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
I had the same problem a long time ago after switching from Fx 17 to Fx 18, & it was nothing to do with NoScript & not to do with the browser upgrade either.

So if you don't have a copy of your profile from before this issue started: try a new profile with only NoScript installed, if it works there go back to your main profile and do Standard Diagnostic. From there it's likely a settings tweak of some sort in the culprit addon.
Please let us know the results, thanks.

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
When it fails do you see anything related in the Browser Console (Ctrl-Shift-J)?
(related messages usually start with "[NoScript" or "[ABE]"; if you don't know what is related turn off CSS warnings and post everything else you see)

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
It flashes the player window, which says "An error occurred. Please Try again later." and then goes back to the blocked media placeholder...therube wrote:What does happen?left clicking on the blocked flash doesn't play the video

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
Which blocked objects menu entry are you clicking on to temp-allow it? Where is it relative to the separator and what is its exact text (I don't care about URLs being exactly right)?

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
The top one in each group works; first on the list, shockwave-flash@https://s.tymig.com/.../watch_as3.swf works.barbaz wrote:Which blocked objects menu entry are you clicking on to temp-allow it? Also, *@https://s.tymig.com and **http://r---snv8gxpvo-cvnl.googlevideo.com (sorry for any transcription errors!) both work
The second on the list, video/ogg@... does not work. I haven't tried any others.
Ar far as the error therube mentioned goes, clicking multiple times dotes not bring up the video, but the error screen again.
I did note today that embedded YouTube videos DO work properly; it is an issue only on YouTube.com..

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
I just noticed, if I mouse over the placeholder, the address starts with <video>,video/ogg@https://r7---sn-8xgp1vo-cvne.googlevideo.com...

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
Actually, it may be related to the error therube mentioned; If I click on the 'x' in the top right of the placeholder, and quickly click on the Shockwave logo at top left, it plays...rschaffter wrote:I just noticed, if I mouse over the placeholder, the address starts with <video>,video/ogg@https://r7---sn-8xgp1vo-cvne.googlevideo.com...

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
video/ogg - that means you being served html5 video, which its url will change every time you try activate it, the only answer is pick one of the video/ogg@... options below the separator (or, if you don't use "apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too", just (temp-)allow googlevideo.com).
the flash menu item works when you being served flash video, because the flash object url remains the same for the same video.

Re: Upgrading to Firefox 40 breaks YouTube
Seems to be solved; either upgrading to FF 41 or Noscript 2.6.9.39 made the issue go away and it now works as expected.
