Duplicate Display of Certain NoScript Items

Post by JohnX_Williams »

I use NoScript on Linux (Fedora).
I'd like to suggest that when looking at the NoScript list of actions allowed/denied, the "Temporarily allow this all this page" and "Revoke temporary permissions" choices be duplicated at the TOP of the list. At many sites, the list of NoScript items exceeds the page height and requires scrolling -- which often may be bothersome, expecially when reading online news at Google, BBC, and other popular sites.

Perhaps there might be a NoScript option to record names of sites at which the "all" and "revoke" options will be duplicated at the top of the displayed list.
Except this, I like NoScript and use the lists (above) often.

What do you think of the idea of having the whole menu order customizable per viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20480 ? That way you could, say, opt to reverse the menu order and have those menu items always on top...

Having reversal as an option would not hurt. I'd prefer duplication of, say,the last five items, though, so the normal order was preserved.
Optional reversal of just the last
n
items would be fine.

I think reversal of everything might cause confusion with the middle items.

(saw no other thread, so here, i'll put it...)
Hi.

I am using NoScript for Mozilla Firefox protection on a Linux machine.

Suddenly, a few months ago, I was no longer able to download anything from
the "Secrecy News" web site.
For example,
fas.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=33c6e6fc9f63792ebcbb7ef9d&id=6d210574d2&e=9d8664ecf6
(still) doesn't seem to work.

As a workaround, I have been switching for the download to Google "Chrome"
(which I dislike because it seems designed for idiots).

Just today, I discovered that I am unable to add "fas.us8.list-manage1.com"
to my NoScript Whitelist. I THINK that recently Secrecy News renamed
their download website to include a "-" in the name, causing the above
download problem. I have just written them about this. If I remove the
hyphen, I can add the site to your Whitelist, but, of course, the site does
not exist under that name.

Does NoScript INTENTIONALLY refuse to whitelist a name with a hyphen? If
not, it might be a good idea to allow it -- at least as a special option.

URL: https://fas.org/blogs/secrecy/

Not really understanding.
Your fas link prompts to download a PDF file?

> no longer able to download

If you disable NoScript, does the problem persist?

> unable to add "fas.us8.list-manage1.com" to my NoScript Whitelist

Tends to indicate that you have list-maage1.com already in there.

> renamed their download website to include a "-" in the name

Don't see where that would have any bearing?
The actual file sits at a place like, http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/*.pdf

> Does NoScript INTENTIONALLY refuse to whitelist a name with a hyphen?

No.

@therube: er, what is their username, & why are you posting that here?

@JohnX_Williams:
Try install NoRedirect & set it up to block all redirects (Regex: .*, check only "Source") & see if there is something else that needs whitelisting. The URL in the quoted message from you is a redirect link of some sort, perhaps there is another redirect along the way which needs whitelisted as well.

Fair enough, they probably wouldn't find it otherwise.

Hi All.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm waiting for Secrecy News to post again, so I can answer the various questions.

OK. I am now able to add www.fas.org to my Whitelist. I do not know why it failed before, but FAS was offline from about Sep 2 until today.

fas.org sends a text website email "Secrecy News" several times a week. It includes URLs which may be downloaded by the reader. For example,
http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/homesec/RS20844.pdf (="Temporary Protected Status: Current Immigration Policy and Issues").

Everything seems to be working now -- possibly the site was being modified recently.

Thank you for your attention.
