Received email from the board intended for other user

Post by lakrsrool »

It seems the SPAM protection for this forum is all messed up. I got a message in my email that is NOT intended for ME obviously. As all can see the email was intended for "therube" and NOT ME!!! See bolded/underlined parts below. WHY would I be getting the following "automated" message from the forum sent to MY EMAIL?

Clearly, the SPAM protection needs to be looked into as it not only blocks forum posts much more strict than necessary but also sends email messages to the wrong person. As I see it there are a lot of moderators on this board and taking care of SPAM to the level that the SPAM filters do on this board would seem to be overkill. I'm a global moderator on an application support forum and we handle most SPAM on that board and have very little problems in this regard even though there are only 3 active moderators on that forum.

Hello therube,

The following is an e-mail sent to you by lakrsrool via your account on
"InformAction Forums". If this message is spam, contains abusive or other
comments you find offensive please contact the webmaster of the board at
the following address:

forums@informaction.com

Include this full e-mail (particularly the headers). Please note that the
reply address to this e-mail has been set to that of lakrsrool.

Message sent to you follows

Hi again therube,

barbaz has now posted my "whitelist" in this topic as I was getting blocked
apparently due to the forum "SPAM filter" and therefore unable to post the
list myself.

If you would please post your "whitelist" as well, then a comparison can be
made between the two lists for any differences that I presume barbaz
considers there could possibly be a factor since apparently you do not have
this same issue with this website and with your SSE "Sanitize cross-site
suspicious request" setting enabled (which will not work with this setting
enabled for myself and Ashcan as well.

It would be good for barbaz to actually see the difference between the two
"whitelists" presumably.

Thanks again in advance.

This is off-topic to viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21205 & really deserves its own thread, so split to Metaforum where it's more likely to be noticed.
