[Resolved] Do not replace Firefox "Open with" option

Post by pols12 »

Hello !
Is it possible to keep Firefox "Open with" function with Flashgot ?
Currently, when I click on a "download" link, I can choose between "FlashGot" or "Save the file".
Previously (before installing Flashgot), I could choose between "Open with..." and "Save the file".

Actually, I would like to use Flashgot only to download Flash videos. Is it possible ?

Thanks ! :)

It may depend on the file type.
Like a ZIP should allow Open With where an EXE will only allow Save (or FlashGot).
(And that is determined by FF, not FlashGot.)

FlashGot Options | Downloads -> File extensions, flv, Add

And if by that you mean with FlashGot Media...
FlashGot Options | Downloads -> File extensions, gobbledygook, Add

Thinking you're not likely to come across a (regular) FlashGot download of the type, gobbledygook, so you should get nothing on that end, & all that may turn up would be what FlashGot Media detects (which could be more then just "Flash").

You have right : I have only tried to download EXE file, for which Firefox does not offer "Open with" choice. Sorry. I believed FlashGot had replaced this functionality whereas it is only additional functionality.

I have not precisely understood the end of your message, but I could already download Flash videos, without adding FLV extension.

But no problem, I use now NetVideoHunter which do what I want and which is already a free software (open source).

Thank you for the answer ! :)
