[RESOLVED] NS in Firefox permanently grey - still blocking

Post by Guest »

Hi,
I've been using NoScript for a while now and overall I'm verry satisfied with its performance.
Nevertheless after I updated to Firefox Version 39.0 (manually) this morning, the NoScript Icons ("temporary allow for this site" ; "undo all temporary allowing") in the Firefox Toolbar came up all grey.
As I tried to log into facebook I got the comon "activate javascript" notification.
I then tried to unlock the necessary scripts, there were no options right in the right-click menue for NoScript.
The only Option to unblock the scripts was by altering the restrictions in the "recently blocked" subsection.

Is this a comond bug with FF 39.0 or did I acidentally change any settings?
Moreover, is there a solutuion?

I would be very glad, if anyone could help me out here :)
Thanks in advance ;)

Cheers
Daniel

Others who have reported that type of behavior have found it to be malware, check step 2 of General Troubleshooting Instructions

Hi barbaz,
thank you, for your fast answer.
The instructions from the General Troubleshooting Instructions did indeed help me in resolving the problem.
I had a malware alert on sunday. Though I'm not sure if it was responsible for the problem because it was detected while browsing and the reguar full system scan did not bring anything plus the icon disapeared after I updated to FF 39.0...
Nevertheless, reinstalling NoScript after completely removing the asocciated files in the /AppData folder set everything back to normal. (seems I've missed two of them before)
Another Malware/Virus scan did not bring up anything. For me the probem is resolved.

*Sorry I did not find the Troubleshooting myself. :? Obviously my search terms did not match and/or I was blind at that time :D
...anyway, thanks for your help again!

cheers
Daniel

That won't be happening - having this here might mean that it's more likely people will find the answer by searching (you yourself said you found nothing by searching.. now here's a topic on this in your words, which will help others who use similar search queries to what you did). Different people's posts on the same issue have different search terms, and it's not obvious that it's malware to someone who hasn't been reading these forums. Don't worry about it.
