Bing freezes when retrieving login status/info

Post by spaceace »

First off, I'm only having this issue on one of two computers, so I realize that the problem is on my end, but I'm having difficulties fixing it.

When I perform a search on Bing, the initial search results load. I get the NoScript notification regarding Scripts Currently Forbidden. When I select to temporarily allow Bing.com, it attempts to retrieve user login status with live.com and freezes for 25 seconds whether you are already logged in or not.

If I start FF in safe mode, there are no problems. Likewise, if I uninstall NoScript there are no problems. As soon as I install it, the freeze returns. Since I don't have this issue on a second PC, I assume the problem is in the settings on this pc. So I have tried the following:
  • Reset NoScript Settings
  • Uninstall/reinstall NoScript
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox.
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox and also removed the Program Directory as well as all Profile Data before reinstalling.
By this point I think I should have a pretty clean reinstall. But soon as I install NoScript (no other addons installed), the freeze returns.

Any suggesstions on what to do to try narrow this down and eliminate the problem?

Well this is mildly annoying. This seems to have been resolved through a reboot. Glad to have it fixed, annoyed that it's something so lame after spending so much time on it.
