Thinking it may actually have something to do with the ajax.googleapis.com issue of late?
Install the development build of NoScript, then check your whitelist & see if ajax.googleapis.com shows in there, then see if the issue persists.
(Still can't hurt to run the MBAM scan.)

All right great. Thank you so much. Yes, it is the ajax issue. I had not allowed requests to ajax, then when I did allow them for some reason, not much after is when all this happened. I blocked it again and all is well!

Well someone (I think GµårÐïåñ) has said that this kind of thing can be the result of being online and making net requests while your computer/router is in the middle of a DHCP lease reset... in this case, (at most) a restart of the browser once the connection reset is done should fix the problem I would think?
But yeah if it's persistent then it's probably not that, it could be malware.
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!
