This thread is about a browser crash (on OS X) that might be caused by NoScript. If you have Trusteer Rapport please go to the other thread. Posts in this thread unrelated to this thread's topic will be moved elsewhere, possibly without notice.

Same happening here in OS X. There's definitely a conflict between Firefox 38 and Noscript 2.6.9.22. It happens to me that a lot of pages doesn't load despite of of course being allowed by noscript. They do not load and everything become a bit unresponsive.

I think the issue I'm having is different, crash log https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... 9662150514
And it's happening only when noscript is enabled. FF 38.0.1 & NoScript 2.6.9.22

Re: NoScript crashes Firefox 38.0.1
Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NS settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons *on the very bottom* of NS Options?
Also, do you have a page where you can consistently reproduce the crashing? If so, if you have the Browser Console (Ctrl-Shift-J) open while it's trying to load, see any messages starting with "[NoScript" or "[ABE]" ?
(I'm going to be building myself a SeaMonkey based on Gecko 38.0.1 sometime soon, I might be able to try to reproduce the problem. Knowing a complete list of what's Allowed would be helpful for that.)

Re: NoScript crashes Firefox 38.0.1
If you disable NoScript, does the problem persist?

Re: NoScript crashes Firefox 38.0.1
therube: the problem does not persist if I disable NoScript. It's definitely an issue when using Firefox 38.0.1 and NoScript. Could be related to some of my configs, will try with a clean profile.

The current development version https://secure.informaction.com/downloa ... .22rc1.xpi seems to be older than the released one?.

.22 release should be the same as 22rc1 #dev, dates withstanding.

@tinchoflavour: moved your posts to the other topic
@spastorino: I've built myself a SeaMonkey "2.35pre" based on Firefox 38.0.1, and I'm on Mac OS X (10.7 "Lion")... no crashes yet... how often does this crash occur for you and under what circumstances could I possibly expect this?
(It may not happen at all in SeaMonkey but if I do hit a crash I'd like to have some means of knowing whether or not I should suspect the same problem as you've got. I can't submit crash reports from a self built browser and expect it to mean anything.)

Re: NoScript crashes Firefox 38.0.1
@barbaz: It not always crashes but I consistently see issues loading slack.com and loading irccloud.com when logged in.
I've tried using a new created profile importing my stuff using firefox sync and I get the same issue https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... 4442150522.
Couldn't reproduce with a clean profile.

Re: NoScript crashes Firefox 38.0.1
Since this one doesn't require login, can you please post a complete list of what is Allowed on that site?spastorino wrote:@barbaz: It not always crashes but I consistently see issues loading slack.com
(It's not immediately reproducible with nothing Allowed and then following the redirect.)
I don't use Firefox Sync, so I don't know what that implies... can you be more specific than "stuff" please?spastorino wrote:importing my stuff using firefox sync
Also, it would be very helpful pinning down whether this is NoScript related, if you could import ONLY your NoScript config in the clean profile, leaving everything else default. NoScript Options > Export (in your main profile, use the button *on the very bottom* of the Options dialog), then in the clean profile with only NoScript installed: NoScript Options > Import (again, the one on the very bottom, not the one unique to the whitelist panel).

Re: NoScript crashes Firefox 38.0.1
Everything is allowed, what I was just checking is for instance irccloud mention issues with websocket.
And I did exactly what you said, using just NoScript with the profile imported.

Hmm. I still can't reproduce this with SeaMonkey. Tried to allow scripts globally on slack, all seemed to work properly...spastorino wrote:And I did exactly what you said, using just NoScript with the profile imported.
I'll try Firefox 38.0.1 later. (I hope it doesn't matter that I'm using Linux, I have no disposable Mac environment...)
What sorts of non-default NoScript settings do you have? Any custom ABE rules that apply here, any about:config-only tweaks, anything enabled that's not on by default, any non-default exceptions you added, anything of note in your Force HTTPS list...?

Re: NoScript crashes Firefox 38.0.1
@barbaz: no custom abe rules, NoScript uses the default configuration + a list of allowed sites. As I told you a lot of sites work OK but the issue happen mainly with web chat applications, like slack, irccloud, etc. And some even mention issues with websockets. Not sure if there's a possibility of conflict with that.
I do have some custom about:config things but I don't remember very well. Any way to fetch the user defined configs?.
