[RESOLVED] Changed mouse focus?

Post by randavis »

I have recently noticed a change in NoScript behavior. I am not sure what I changed to cause it.
When I mouse over the NoScript icon in my toolbar, it opens as usual. If I change permission for something, it used to reload the tab and the NoScript menu would close upon clicking on the item in the menu.

Now, I have to click in the tab to get it to reload the page and close the menu.

Any idea what I have changed?

Are you clicking the NS icon instead of hovering the mouse pointer on it?

I hover over it to open the menu and click on what I want to allow. It used to reload the tab right when I clicked on something and the menu closed. Now the menu remains open after I click on something to allow. I have to move the cursor to the browser window and click there to close the menu and reload the tab with the newly allowed scripts.

Try moving the mouse back on the menu and off again (repeatedly?)

Also it looks like you're posting from 2 different Windowses, what version of Windows are you seeing this issue on (or is it both)?

It is happening on my win7 pro desktop machine and also my win10 preview machine which is a Dell Inspiron 1545.

I also have a win7 pro install on another SSD for the laptop. I will put that drive in it and see if I get the same result on it.

The menu will not go away until I click inside the browser window.

I do have my profiles sync-ed on these machines. It may be a corruption in a profile, but I am not seeing any other issues.

I am using Adblock Plus 2.6.7, Classic Theme Restorer 1.2.9.3, Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus 1.3.1, Garmin Communicator 4.1.0, NoScript 2.6.9.12, Print Edit 13.8, RoboForm Toolbar for Firefox 7.9.12.2, SSL Version Control 0.4, Stylish 2.0.1, SuperStop 0.1, And Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel 2.43.

Edit: I put the win7 SSD in the laptop and it responds the same as the others.

Seeing that list of extensions, I think it's highly likely another extension might be the culprit...
Does disabling all extensions other than NoScript (Tools > Add-ons Manager) get it working?

I disabled all of the other add-ons. It made no difference. I re-enabled them and still no difference.

Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NS settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons *on the very bottom* of NS Options?
If that still doesn't reproduce the problem, try Standard Diagnostic (leaving NS enabled) to isolate and correct the real cause.

Let us know, thanks.

I created a new profile and I still have to click in the browser window to close the NoScript menu. Hovering the cursor over the icon in the toolbar opens the menu as before. If I change a permission, I still have to click in the browser window to implement the change and close the menu.

OK looks like this may be a very specific bug, I'll have to give this a try in Windows / Fx 36...
Can you please post a link to the Fx 36 beta you're using?

This is the latest beta release. b8

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org ... 36.0b8.exe

https://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla ... 43e5143e7f

I have had this issue for a while. I am not sure which version of FF I was using when it appeared. Maybe 34?

It seems to have shortened my links. I'll try again.

Thanks.

Confirmed in Windows 8. So this is a WindowsFirefox 36 specific bug.
I'll move this topic to NoScript Development.
