[INVALID] NoScript and Patreon

Post by Unix Ronin »

Patreon.com updated their site in December, and ever since their update I have been unable to log into the site using PaleMoon (a Firefox fork without the godawful Australis interface, and with better 64-bit optimization) either from Linux or from Windows, even if I temporarily set NoScript to allow all scripts globally. (Well, OK, I've managed to log in from Windows ONCE. Then it stopped working again.) I also cannot log in from Dolphin on my phone. I can log in using Vivaldi on my Gentoo Linux desktop.

Is anyone else having problems with Patreon, and does anyone know whether it is an issue of something NoScript is blocking?

When it fails, do you see anything related in the Browser Console? (Ctrl-Shift-J)
(if you don't know what's related, turn off CSS warnings and post everything else you see)

Not a thing. I don't even see the page send anything on submit. It just seems to be completely dead in the water.

Does disabling NoScript (Tools > Add-ons Manager > NoScript > Disable > Yes, remove ALL protections) get it working?

And is there anything on page load? Eg open the Browser Console, clear all messages, then load Patreon. Sometimes there will be an error when initialising things.

Sorry for the delayed response. I just got a chance to retest with NoScript disabled before starting work for the day, and with NoScript completely disabled, a fresh clean load of the Patreon login page is still completely dead in the water in Pale Moon. So I think we can safely conclude it is NOT a NoScript issue, it is some kind of browser compatibility issue. I've gotten nothing useful from the Patreon support folks; I will try pursuing it with Moonchild Productions.

By the way, just as a status update, I did get confirmation from Moonchild that, NoScript or no NoScript, the current Patreon login page is not only completely dead in the water, it pulls in so much javascript from so many different places that it frequently does not even completely load.

So, no fault of NoScript's. Nothing to see here. These aren't the droids you're looking for.
