Request: Infos about blocked webpages

Post by e141637 »

I think it would be useful to get some information about the websites that got blocked by NoScript on a particular page. A simple way to search for the name of the website would be a good first step, a recommendation system like the one from "Web Of Trust" could be an addition or something like a traffic light indicator with a one-liner about known companies.

I give you an example. Lets say something on the page I'm on isn't working and I' pretty sure there is another site involved. So I click on my trusted NoScript button. And I see a lot of companies, some I never have heard of.

Yeah, I'm German, but please don't mention the war.
Now I have no idea what usabilla.com is all about. Is it an online advertiser, a web analyzer, a content delivery network, a scripting library? Today I have to type the name into the search box of my browser while the NoScript panel is closed. Sometimes I may not have memorized the name of the webpage correctly, so I have to take another look. And I have to do it again for any page I can't judge. This is quite cumbersome, isn't it? Searching for usabilla.com even comes up with an entry in Wikipedia, nice. It is a company specialized in user feedback tools. Should not be my problem solver if a video doesn't show or a gallery doesn't slide to the next picture.
I could imagine a number of ways to improve this situation. Hovering over a name could show an entry like "provider for user feedback tools", or a double/right click could lead to a search with the engine I have chosen as my standard. Or there could be a color code before the entry with red for a company like doubleclick.com and white for akamaihd.net. I don't like green as the "best color", too close to a recommendation. We could write a comment about any entry and up or down vote other entries. But I fear there would be quite a potential for misuse by interested parties.

Hopefully this idea wasn't discussed already, I could not find anything like this.
