Noscript notification, url https://noscript.net/?ver=2.6.9.9, opens on every Firefox startup.
This hasn't happened before, when it opened only when update was released.
Also, option "Display the release notes on updates" in "Notification" tab, in Noscript options menu, doesn't apply when unchecked and with Firefox restart.
Is this some new bug?

Do other Preference changes persist after a browser restart?
What is you home page set to?
How does your FF desktop shortcut read?

No. I don't know for all Preference changes, but for example I tried to uncheck ClearClick Warning option in "Notification" tab, and that change didn't persist.
What is you home page set to?
To www.google.com.
How does your FF desktop shortcut read?
I don't have desktop shortcut, as I start it from Start Menu, which reads Mozilla Firefox (location ..Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe).

Re: noscript notification opens on every firefox startup
Try shutting down Firefox, creating a new profile, exit (do NOT Start Firefox), *copy* *all* the contents of your existing profile folder to the new one you just made, start Fx with the new profile, and see if that helps you at all?
If not, go back to profile manager and try creating a new profile leaving it clean, install only NoScript, and see if that pops up the release notes every time you start the browser? If that does get it working... try Standard Diagnostic on your normal profile and please let us know the results, thanks.
If none of the above makes any difference, most likely some program on your computer is tinkering with prefs.js permissions or reverting changes made to it. Likely culprits could include any sort of scanner that runs in the background or some auto-protect thingy (e.g. some security software)...

Re: noscript notification opens on every firefox startup
I tried new profile suggestions and that didn't make any difference.
If this is about prefs.js being altered by some program, what's best solution?
By the way, last week lynkey/default-search.net hijacker has installed itself on my computer, but I removed it immediately. I can't remember if noscript notifications started to come up from that day.

OK now I'd guess you didn't completely remove the malware...mmnos wrote:If this is about prefs.js being altered by some program, what's best solution?

What tool(s) did you use to scan your system and get rid of it?

Re: noscript notification opens on every firefox startup
I followed instruction for manual removal, I'll double check again if I did everything, but except noscript notification malfunction, everything seems ok. Again, I can't say it started right after that hijack.

Re: noscript notification opens on every firefox startup
Solved!
I didn't delete all entries made by browser hijack in registry and Program Files, when I removed it first time. I deleted it now and problem is solved. Thank you for your answers, who knows if I would re-check it on my own, since I didn't make the connection first time.
