re-installing No Script
I reset Firefox and re-installed No Script. I didn't see any place on the page to insert my serial number -- do I not need it?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: re-installing No Script
The one I got when I bought No Script and dug out before reinstalling No Script. But No Script is working fine, so I conclude that I didn't need it. I appreciate being able to reinstall without hassle.barbaz wrote:what serial number?
In the meantime, I can't get Java Script to work. Is No Script blocking it? It is not in the little dropdown menu.
Again, thanks.

Erm.. NoScript is free software, it's not for sale...annieoakley wrote:The one I got when I bought No Script and dug out before reinstalling No Script.
Can you be more specific please (maybe give an example)?annieoakley wrote:In the meantime, I can't get Java Script to work. Is No Script blocking it? It is not in the little dropdown menu.

Re: re-installing No Script
I have been tinkering all day. I learned that Java and Java Script are not identical and got Java Script to work most of the time. I don't know which part of the tinkering succeeded.barbaz wrote:Erm.. I upgraded to the paid version -- three computers for 1 year,
$29.00.

I need to watch some streaming video of some meetings. I needed Java Script in order to install Adobe Flash in order to play the video. The site is no longer asking for Java Script, but continues to ask me to install Adobe Flash. I used the convenient link they provided to install Adobe Flash and I can open my control panel and see 4 (four!!) Adobe Flash programs that were downloaded today -- but the site continues to ask me to install Adobe Flash.
Yes, I click "temporarily allow all this site" in No Script. I have not yet tried "allow all scripts globally" and have also not yet disabled No Script. I will try that tomorrow, and tonight I will have nightmares about a crowd of vicious malware just waiting for a gap in my No Script protection.
The site I am talking about is accessfayetteville.org -- for some reason I have to type "accessfayetteville" in to my search engine to get there. At the top of the page there is a huge, red link to the Fayetteville Alert System, and directly to the right of that is a small, gray link to The Government Channel. and that goes to the video and the request to download Adobe Flash.
Your help will be greatly appreciated. And if you can't help, thanks for listening.

Works if you actually add the www. to it, so www.accessfayetteville.org.
> Flash
What does Tools | Addons Manager -> Plugins show?
If Flash is not shown, then you have not installed it (the version required for a Mozilla browser, which is different from the version used by IE).
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
(Be sure to uncheck any kind of crap they try to bundle with it.)

Tell us more. Just where did you get "NoScript" from?

Re: re-installing No Script
No such version of NoScript, there's only the release version and dev build and both are free. That's it.annieoakley wrote:I upgraded to the paid version -- three computers for 1 year,

Not sure what you got there.
(Oh, maybe you're confusing NoScript with the Uniblue registry cleaner? viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20318
That is not related to NoScript or even written by Giorgio, it's just a product Giorgio endorses.)
Whatever you do, first uninstall all of those, and get the latest version from the official site (you need to go there in Firefox).annieoakley wrote:I used the convenient link they provided to install Adobe Flash and I can open my control panel and see 4 (four!!) Well, on their homepage http://www.accessfayetteville.org/, (Temp-)Allowing *only* the following got it working AFAICTannieoakley wrote:The site I am talking about is accessfayetteville.org -- for some reason I have to type "accessfayetteville" in to my search engine to get there. Code: Select all
+accessfayetteville.org
+googleapis.com
+google.comClicking the "The Government Channel" button after that, all I needed to add to the Allowed list was
Code: Select all
+accessfayetteville.granicus.comIf that does not help you could you please provide even more details exactly what goes wrong?

Re: re-installing No Script
@ barbaz and therube
Thanks, I will get to all this today. Or maybe tonight -- I still have to do everything I didn't do yesterday while I was tinkering with the computer.
You are right, barbaz, I didn't upgrade No Script, I bought
@ therube
Regardless of whatever else happens, your image has made my day. It is really great, both the concept and the execution. Thanks.

Here's what happened. I downloaded NoScript and liked it so much, I thought anything Giorgio recommended might be good, too. So I looked at Uniblue, liked it, and bought it. Then I made notes about what I had done and the notes got garbled (made the notes in a Microsoft Word table that I had copied into a Rich Text document). When I looked at them I thought the Unicode serial number belonged to NoScript and I had paid $29.00 to upgrade NoScript. Sorry, it was a stupid mistake.
And why can't I drag and drop that nice red smiley face here? When I try it changes to code.

AccessFayetteville is working fine. It all fell into place when I figured out that the Adobe Flash they required was actually called Shockwave Flash and enabled it.
If you stumble around in the dark long enough, and if good people occasionally nudge you in the right direction, you eventually find a door. Thank you.
