I have no Firefox add-ons except NoScript. Flash is not installed on Firefox. I use Firefox for safe surfing. When I want to watch video, I use IE11. My PCs are W-7 64-bit.
For quite a few Firefox releases using NoScript, the focus behavior was correct: when Firefox was started or when the home button was clicked (my home is a search engine), I would see my search engine with the input focus, i.e. the cursor was present in the search box. However, a few releases ago the cursor focus was lost. This current behavior is different than all other browsers.
I do not know if this is a Firefox bug or a NoScript bug. The Mozilla community claims that it is a NoScript bug, so please fix this bug in the next release. It is annoying to start Firefox and start typing something into the search box only to then realize that the typing is being sent to the bit bucket instead.

Re: Initial input focus on Firefox with NoScript is broken
Could you provide the URL of this search engine?
Is JavaScript allowed there?
I've tried setting my homepage to google.com (allowed) and auto-focus does work there.

Sorry about the delay. The search engine I use with Firefox and NoScript is Duckduckgo at www.duckduckgo.com. Bing also does not work, focus-wise. I also tried Google and that works, but you could not pay me to use Google because they data-mine their customers.

DuckDuckGo (https://duckduckgo.com/) as homepage is auto-focusing the search field here in SeaMonkey 2.30 and my custom SeaMonkey build based on Gecko 31.2...
Using NoScript 2.6.9.2rc3, duckduckgo.com script-allowed
As Giorgio asked, are you script-allowing duckduckgo.com?
Does disabling NoScript (Tools > Add-ons Manager > NoScript > Disable > Yes, remove ALL protections) get it working?

*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

"As Giorgio asked, are you script-allowing duckduckgo.com?"
If I am understanding your question correctly, you are asking if I go to the lower-right, click on Options, and click on Temporarily Allow All On This Page.
No, because then I am stuck without NoScript protection. When I open a new tab, I click on Home and then click in the search field.
I looked at Tools->Add-ons->Extensions->Options->Whitelist, but duckduckgo.com was already there, probably because I executed the above.
Never mind, I'll just keep doing it my way.

Re: Initial input focus on Firefox with NoScript is broken
If you disable NoScript & restart FF does it focus correctly?
If not, it is not a NoScript issue.
If it does, then further investigation is needed.
