I'm running Firefox on a Win7 box. When NoScript is enabled, the machine will sometimes not be able to go into sleep mode, in the worst possible way: the screen goes dark, the disk writes happen, and then... it just sits there. The only way out of that state is a hard reboot. It doesn't always happen; I haven't figured out what triggers it, but the longer and harder the machine has been working, the more likely it is to occur.
If I disable NoScript in Firefox, the machine always goes to sleep fine, so I'm pretty confident that it is the source of this problem. Has anyone experienced this?

Re: NoScript preventing sleepmode on Win7
This problem does not ever occur if Firefox is shut down?
Since it only happens "sometimes", are you sure it's NS and not only to do with the machine having a heavy load?
Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NS settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons *on the very bottom* of NS Options?
If that still doesn't reproduce the problem, NoScript is not the culprit... try Standard Diagnostic (leaving NS enabled) to isolate and correct the real cause.
Let us know, thanks.

Re: NoScript preventing sleepmode on Win7
I have always had trouble getting my computer to sleep.
In the past it was far worse, when it would almost never sleep - unless I closed my browser.
Tried everything I could think of & nothing made a difference, except closing the browser first.
Then at some point, without having done anything on my end (except regular MS updates & stuff like that), it started sleeping, regularly.
Now there is an odd time, that for whatever reason, I can't sleep.
But I've never thought to attribute it to NoScript. Browser, I'd say yes. Something running within the browser, I wouldn't know even how to begin to figure that out. What does NoScript send a ping once an hour or something like that. But even so, wouldn't expect that to affect anything.
My prior computer, I never had to do anything, at all, except to tell it to go to sleep, & it always did.

Re: NoScript preventing sleepmode on Win7
I'm embarrassed to say, trying this has not occurred to me. Part of using sleep mode instead of just shutting the machine down is that I want to preserve the state of my work, that includes browser windows. I will track it.This problem does not ever occur if Firefox is shut down?
It doesn't always happen, but when NoScript is disabled, it never happens. And it never happened before I first installed NoScript. So I'm fairly confident that it is involved somehow.Since it only happens "sometimes", are you sure it's NS and not only to do with the machine having a heavy load?
I will try out your suggestions and come back.

Re: NoScript preventing sleepmode on Win7
Coming back to this (been on two different vacations): yesterday, I was able to repro the problem with NoScript disabled. So it looks like it is not to blame. Unfortunately, I still don't know what is, exactly. My current theory is that Firefox isn't releasing memory correctly when it is shut down, and sleepmode is hanging waiting for this to happen.
