It used to be that when I started Firefox, it would automatically check for a NoScript update and take me to the release notes page.
Today I noticed that didn't happen. I manually navigated to noscript.net and saw that current is 2.6.8.39 - I have 2.6.8.36... and visiting noscript.net did NOT update me.
I've been online daily (and restarting Firefox daily), for "forever." So how did I miss the updates? I'm currently using Firefox 31.0

Re: Automatic update ... isn't
If you go to Tools -> Add-ons Manager, and leave your browser idle for a while, is it even offering you the NoScript update?
When doing that, do you see anything related to addon updating in the Browser Console? (Ctrl-Chift-J)
Also, check your configuration:
Tools -> Add-ons Manager -> gear icon -> Update Add-ons Automatically (you want this checked *only* if you want *all* addons updated automatically except when you say otherwise)
*and*
Tools -> Add-ons Manager -> NoScript -> More -> Automatic Updates: (you'll want this set to "on" to make sure that noscript gets auto updates regardless the default setting)
Updates aren't delivered through noscript.net; for stable NoScript, your browser checks AMO for the last NS version that passed full review on AMO, and if that's newer than what you've got and automatic updates are enabled, it downloads that from AMO.

*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

Re: Automatic update ... isn't
There have been a number of NS releases pushed through lately, and I suspect that Mozilla is behind. I've noticed the same thing on a machine that uses the release build: it's stayed at .36 for a while.
You can wait for AMO's review to get automatic updates, or you can manually install each release from noscript.net as it comes out, or you can install the latest development build from noscript.net/getit#devel and get automatic updates of that. Take your pick.
