1.9.5 screws up Mouse Gestures

Post by Yuriy Opryshko »

Hi,

The new update screws up Firefox when a mouse gesture is used - Fx just hangs.

What mouse gesture add-on are you using?

I can confirm this issue using NoScript 1.9.5 and Mouse Gestures Redox 2.0.3 in Firefox 3.0.11. FF often hangs when pressing RMB+LMB (Page Back) with high CPU usage. It sometimes does recover after a while, only to render all links on the page completely useless.

Note that this only occurs in Windows. I runes fine in Linux. :D

I still can't reproduce on my Fx 3.0.11 test browser (I'm on Fx 3.5 now and MGR is not compatible yet).
Could you try disabling all your extensions except NoScript & MGR and see if the problem persists?
If not, please try Standard Diagnostic to isolate the 3rd variable in this equation.

I think I've found something.
I have the "show my windows and tabs from last time on startup" option enabled and it seems like the problem only occurs, as long as this option is enabled. A strange thing is, that re-using a session doesn't always cause the problem immediately, while starting a new session always fixes it.

Other than that none of the diagnostic steps did help, even after creating a fresh profile.

Hopefully this can be of help.

I have to add, that I tried nearly all the diagnostic steps and none of it brought a solution as long as the two addons and the mentioned option were enabled. The only thing I didn't try so far, is a clean FF install.

I just disabled all my add ons except Mouse gestures and Noscript and had the same problem. FF locks up. I am running FF 3.0.11 and Noscrpit 1.9.5 and Mouse gestures 2.0.3

@Paul:
do you mean that 1.9.3.3 (previous stable) breaks it as well ?

No, 1.9.3.1 was the one I found on Cnet.

Why did you get it from CNet? Recommend you get them from the AMO archives or the NoScript.net archives to ensure the fidelity of the file you are downloading, although I don't believe that CNet is risky in general.

Two things that might be helpful:

1) When FF manages to recover from a freeze after using RMB+LMB none of the links on the page works. Right clicking on a link and using "open in new tab" fixes the links on the first tab for some reason.

2) I tried disabling all security features the NoScript options dialog offers and still had the problem. The only ways around seem to be disabling one of the extensions or using Linux.
