Good evening!
I have recently updated NoScript to version 2.6.8.29 on a Windows7 32-bit laptop with Service Pack 1, and automatic updates from Microsoft.
I use Gecko browsers, most often SeaMonkey (current version 2.26.1) and Mozilla Firefox (also the latest version)
Unfortunately these days more than once, an opened tab will basically 'freeze' and I can't do anything.
Then, after quite some time, a message appears -
"A script on this page is either busy or not reacting"
And the script is : .,... Script: chrome://noscript/content/noscriptOverlay.js:2283 (!!) (for SeanMonkey)
and Script: chrome://noscript/content/noscriptOverlay.js:1409) (for FireFox)
Even when I click on 'stop' script, on SeaMonkey it will keep on running, and only much later, when I manage to close the entire tab from the status-bar, do I get rid of the imminent problem.
Other technical info:
On both browsers I run Adblock Plus.
I've recently installed the latest Java, version 7, update 60
Virus checks (Avira) showed nothing on either hard-disk or external disk.
And I just got rid of 14 of Trojan infections as well.
Any reactions or questions or suggestions?
(Thanks in advance)

Did this happen also with 2.6.8.28?
What if you completely disable Java (Tools -> Add-ons Manager -> Plugins)?

Any particular URLs?
Is memory usage an issue, as in are you getting close to 2 GB of Mem Usage?
(Guess not.)
If I've pulled the correct line?

Re: problems with noscript - it freezes / hijacks my browser
Thank you barbaz and therube -
barbaz -
I have now disabled a plug-in called "Java Deployment" which I wasn't even aware that it was on the browsers, and for blogger, it went a bit better.
(generally Firefox seems a bit more robust here than SeaMonkey, less inclined to be 'frozen' by a script)
therube -
the memory use is rather low indeed, usually 50% ( ca 1GB) and at times has been even lower.
for the browsers, it usually is at about 300MB
update:
meanwhile, since yesterday evening the laptop got infected by SearchProtect. I removed it with Revo and AdWare Cleaner.
After that, there was an update to Mozilla FIrefox 30. As a result the computer is nearly back to normal in terms of speed, I can use Blogger again, which works even better than before.
YouTube is still a problem. Now it is Script: https://s.ytimg.com/yts/jsbin/www-en_US-vflUrNGEc/base.js:2 which is slowing down the browser, making it impossible to watch videos.
For SeaMonkey, NoScript remains a problem, this time Overlay:js1409 keeps coming up, again when wanting to see YouTube videos.
Memory use is still at ca. 50%, use of the processor very low, 2% to maybe 37% at times.

try scanning your whole system for malware with malwarebytes anti-malware (the free version will do)
and maybe try a full scan with malwarebytes anti-rootkit beta (WARNING: malwarebytes anti-rootkit can bork your entire system during cleanup) also?
also, you don't need script on ytimg.com enabled at all to watch videos, just enable script on "www.youtube.com" and use flash as your video player (append "&html5=0" to youtube video URLs if necessary)
