[RESOLVED] no script breaks site
Hello,
I'm a gamer and I run a guildportal guild site. The only thing I updated was no script. I now can't login to the website. In fact, I get a "404 - File or directory not found" error. I was able to reproduce the error on a second machine. Plus, the website shows for split second but then goes to the 404 error.
Here's the link, not sure if it will work for you or not.
http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?G ... bID=553805
Actually it affects the whole site: http://www.guildportal.com
The site works fine with all other browsers: Chrome, Safari, and Opera.
Let me know what can be done. Thanks!

Re: no script breaks site
Both links loading fine here.
wikipedia: HTTP 404
Further I can successfully log in.
BUT, once I Allow guildportal.com then I roll over to, http://www.guildportal.com/undefined.
(I logged in, then went to Mail. At that point, I Allowed guildportal.com <JavaScript needed to read mail>, at which point I ended up at undefined.)
If I disable NoScript, I can still log in, access Mail & read messages as expected.
Looks like google-analytics.com is required. If both ga & guildportal are Allowed, the site works.
Maybe you can bypass that requirement, Surrogate Scripts vs Google Analytics?

Re: no script breaks site
Can't speak for the login portion but the site loads fine, allowing the site enables the ajax components, so not sure what the problem is but it might be interference from something else. Have you tried with a clean profile and NoScript only?

Re: no script breaks site
I understand what you are saying, but still this only happened after installng lastest noscript. Never had a problem or issue with the site before. Plus google-analytics don't show up when I get the error, I've even tried allowing scripts globally with no go.
If i disable noscript it loads fine.
Anything else i can do?

Fixed in latest development build 1.5.9.3

Re: [RESOLVED] no script breaks site
I have had the exact same problem with Guildportal - I downloaded the posted fix, but that did not work unfortunately. I am not having a problem in any other browsers. GA is not even an option to 'allow' (for me) when I go to Guildportal, and I would rather not allow it all the time - just when I am there
.

Are you using Adblock Plus?
Could you explain step-by-step what you do and what breaks?

Re: [RESOLVED] no script breaks site
I am not using adblock. My issue has been the same as the initial posters was. I go to any guildportal web page, and it comes up for a second (basically the time it takes the page to fully load), then I get this:
Server Error
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
(not a normal looking file/page not found looking page either, perhaps something guildportal specific, I have no idea)
If I disable noscript it works fine in Firefox - and it works fine in other browsers. My boyfriend is not having the same issue - but we can't figure out why. I do not have an option to allow GA on that page either, so that is more than likely not my issue. I did install the suggested NS update which did not help my problem.
I have also tried to delete cookies etc. that had me logged in automatically - so that isn't it either.
Thanks for any help though, although not the end of the world - it is annoying.

Re: [RESOLVED] no script breaks site
And you said you're using latest development build 1.9.5.6? Could you check if it's actually the number shown in "About NoScript"?

Re: [RESOLVED] no script breaks site
Have you Allowed google-analytics.com?
(Did 1.9.5.6 make a change making that unnecessary?)

Re: [RESOLVED] no script breaks site
It said that was what I was using, but I uninstalled and downloaded it again and it seems to have worked this time. Thanks for the help, I suppose I should have tried to uninstall and then reinstall NS first

Re: [RESOLVED] no script breaks site
In the future, if you do indeed have the latest version in question installed, you don't need to uninstall and reinstall it, a simple RESET will put you back on track and fix any issues with the settings o the installation of NS that might exist. Anyway, glad you got it working again.
