A lot of sites (Yahoo is one of the more evil offenders) are putting high-volume video ads in their pages.
Is there some way in NoScript to absolutely block any and all media content, from any source whatsoever? I am so sick of this crap; I'm on a news aggregator site in the wee hours of the morning, hitting "open in background tab" on articles that seem like they might be interesting, when suddenly at top volume, some insurance ad, or patent medicine nostrum, or whatever, splits the night.
I want those things killed forever.

"Embeddings" tab in the settings, check "Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too" and also the checkboxes for forbidding the appropriate things.

You could also disable the Flash plugin, which would kill a lot of them.
