I ran through the Standard diagnostic - Firefox stuff. The initial steps didn't work, but I opened up in Firefox Safe Mode, where everything worked as normal. Then when I restarted Firefox, it all worked. I don't know what actually happened - but thanks for your help.
aussiegrimel, thanks for the report. Knowing what actually happened isn't so critical unless we were to receive a rash of these reports, indicating a possible bug. Just glad the problem is solved.

To the OP, Cheech: Can you please try the Standard Diagnostic, and see if you have the same successful outcome as aussiegrimel? Thanks.

Hi:

Since my last post and through several upgrades to NoScript everything has been fine, until today that is. The site in question (my original post) started acting up again. After navigating through the site using the links all of a sudden they stopped working, completely, all of them this time. I disabled no script but that had no affect until I refreshed the page I was on and once I did that the links worked again. This was different from previous times where the links started working without having to refresh the page. I re-enabled NoScript, did not refresh the page, and the links stopped working.

I had just started Firefox to get to the site (actually the link to a specific page in the site was in an email) so it's not that FF was up and running for a while. I had navigated away from the original page to others in the site when the problem occurred. I'm beginning to believe that the problem occurs based on the way I navigate through the site as most times I go to the site from a bookmark and not from a link in an email. I'll pay closer attention.

No , I don't ususaly use the development builds. I'm not sure what level it was as of Apr 24, but I think as of today the development build that you are referring to as already been released and is on my system (I'm running 1.9.2.6).

I've never used this before so I'll need to read up on how to do it. I suspect it will require starting Firefox in a specific way (a different profile?) which if its limits the way Firefox works I'm not sure if I can use it every time. I'll check it out.

Thanks all.

An update to my previous post just above.

I went back to the site which I had left in a "links not working, NoScript enabled" state at the time of my previous post.

When I disabled NoScript the links started working without having to refresh the page. I tried this several times and could move back and forth between the "links not working and the links working" just by disabling/enabling NoScript and without having to refresh the page.

Thanks

Cheech, I am not sure what's not working. I went there and everything works fine (short of logging in, if there is anything at that point I can't say) without having to allow anything in NoScript. Is there a particular page that gives you this issue (that does not require credentials) that I can go and test for you?

Actually, that was my reply to aussiegrimel, not that it matters. The point is that the Standard Diagnostic worked for aussiegrimel, who had a similar problem, and it has solved many other issues as well. I believe that's why they call it the "Standard" diagnostic, but I could be mistaken.

It is not something that you have to use every time you start Fx. It is a set of steps that attempts to isolate and/or repair errors. Please follow the link, then, when you have time, follow the steps described. Please let us know the results. Thank you.

Just as an update, I haven't had the original problem since installing 1.9.3.3.

Sorry Rube, I misunderstood what you were stating, I thought you were suggesting that I change a particular setting.

I agree that our experiences might be different based on the setting we are using however, the experience I was having on this site was changing even thought I was not changing any of the settings.

Anyway, It's a mute point as whatever was causing the problem has now disappeared.

There is also a new version, give that a spin, its stable and has improvements that are worth the update.
