Hello
First I have reported this issue to Firefox while I have been able to track the issue down to NoScript extension meanwhile. Original bug report is here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=953331
Steps to reproduce:
- Enter invalid URL in URL bar (e.g. "blablabla").
- Hit Enter or Alt-Enter to open in new tab.
- Then type valid URL into URL bar (e.g. replace "blablabla" with "google.com").
- Hit Enter.
Actual results:
If you perform the replace of URL sufficiently quickly then Firefox will after some seconds open your search engine looking for the page you just moved to.
In the example it will open the search engine looking for "google.com".
It looks like Firefox tries to contact the page ("blablabla") in background even if new URL was entered. Then after timeout it re-reads the current URL to redirect to search engine instead.
Expected results:
Entering a new (valid) URL should stop the timeout counter or at least initiate a new one. So if the user navigates to a valid page while Firefox tries to locate the old one all pending actions to the old URL should be deleted from queue.
------------
It seems that somehow NoScript is causing this issue and plain Firefox without extensions does not show this issue. I have tested this with Firefox 27 and Firefox 29 on a plain Windows 7 x64 Pro installation with a clean profile just installing NoScript (without changing any settings).
Any feedback or confirmation is appreciated.

I was also able to reproduce this. My default search engine is DuckDuckGo, so typing "blablabla" followed by "google.com" (a valid address), first led me to https://google.com/ (as it should) and then redirected me to the DuckDuckGo search for "google.com/" (this exact string, including the trailing slash).
