Gmail ABE problem

Post by Stooge »

Starting yesterday (or perhaps the day before) I have problems getting into gmail, and its because of ABE. When I try to go to the login screen I get:

"Request {GET https://mail.google.com/mail <<< https://www.google.com/settings/personalinfo - 6} filtered by ABE: <LOCAL> Deny"

There's no button to say "allow", it just takes me to the options. There appears to be a way to put in my own ruleset, but I'm a dunce and don't know what to put. Can someone suggest to me an ABE ruleset I can implement to correct this issue? I tried searching the web about this issue but haven't found anything helpful.

Oh, and of course I left out crucial information:
This is in Firefox and my computer is Win 7. I have the latest version of NoScript.

To expand on that - if ABE thinks that google.com is a local site, then something has gone very wrong on your network. The solution is not to write an ABE rule, but to fix the network fault.

What IP address do you get if you ping www.google.com and mail.google.com?

if I ping google.com I get 74.125.239.50
gmail.google.com gives me 74.125.224.199

My IP is different from those.

Can you get Gmail in other browsers on that computer? If so, look at:
about:config -> noscript.ABE.localExtras (if not default, then reset)
*and*
noscript options -> advanced -> ABE: if "WAN IP(...) E LOCAL" is checked, make sure it's showing the correct WAN IP

Oh, and one more thought...
If you're on Fx 26 or later, you might try

about:networking -> DNS
check "autorefresh every 3 seconds"
if mail.google.com isn't listed there, try again to get to Gmail as you did in the OP
look at what IP address(es) is listed for mail.google.com in about:networking

It's possible that something is screwed up with only Fx... in which case you should try Standard Diagnostic (and maybe scan your system for malware?).
