Firefox crashes when NoScript updates itself =(

Post by forazw »

For some time now, my browser (Firefox) will just randomly crash. When I restart the browser, I see that NoScript has updated.
This time, just now, it also apparently caused my graphics display to reset to display sideways.

Why is it doing these things?
How do I prevent it?

I like your program, overall.
I hope these problems can be stopped.
:-)

Crash report numbers (URLs, about:crashes)?

Extensions by default update on a browser restart, so that NoScript had updated I would say is just a coincidence.

Unlikely IMO. Many graphics utilities utilize a hotkey combo to cause such acts. Perhaps you just hit the right combination?

Plus the fact that Giorgio pushes out updates on a pretty frequent basis (keeping NoScript users safe), so the odds of a NoScript update after any given restart are pretty high.

I too have the same issue with NoScript crashing Firefox. It has been going on for years. Is there anyway to prevent updates from installing and get a notification that an update is available to download or execute.

That's no longer the default? Anyway...
Tools -> Add-ons manager
then either
Gear icon -> uncheck "Update add-ons automatically"
*or*
NoScript -> More -> Automatic updates: set to "off"
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

Does FF crash when other extensions update themselves?
