menu drops when single item clickedHi, sorry if this has bee

Post by Gary »

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place or already asked. I did look around and read, but I cant seem to locate the issue.

Until recently when I clicked the NoScript icon in the bottom bar of FF, the menu would pop up, and I could select the permissions as I wanted. I could select one permission, or several, the menu and list of permissions stayed up even after clicking on one permission to change it allowing me to change subsequent permissions too. The menu actually stayed up until I took the cursor off the menu, or maybe it was when i clicked the page I cant recall exactly. Sadly that seems to have changed. Now as soon as I click one permission, I need to reopen the menu again as each permission selected closes the menu. I have altered the setting to reload page after permissions change, but it still does it, it just does not auto reload. Prior, it would auto reload with all permissions as I set them, without the need to re-enter the menu.

I hope that makes sense. Any fixes? Am I doing it wrong?

Cheers and thanks for an awesome product.

I was so hopeful, but sadly the setting for noscript.stickyUI was already 'true'.

That's strange.

Can you export your NoScript whitelist and import it into a new profile?

I can try.

Scratch that. I cant see how I create a new profile to export it to. I found how to import/export the whitelist, but looking into the folder where profiles reside, reveals but a single profile, named a single number and a series of letters.default

So in short, maybe, lol.

Just to make sure I was clear ikn my issue.

I basically want the no script menu to stay up while I select multiple permissions. It used to do that, after selecting one permission the menu remained up so I could select a second or third etc. Now it drops down after each selected permission. If I need to select two or more permission for a page, I need to reopen that menu each time.

WARNING, do not click the above pic. Its spam to a web proxy site. Sadly I cant see how to report it to staff to delete the pic, or to edit the post myself. Not being registered might be the reason for that. And if my 'scripting' hasnt worked forgive me.

on my computer, the noscript-menu closes when i click an item in the menu..

i think that is the normal behavior..

i don't think i would want the menu to stay open.. if it did, then i would need another click to close it and i would prefer to not have to close it manually..

hat is normal behaviour now, it never used to be, it stayed up until I was finished with the permissions for as long as I can remember.

What youre saying would mean extra clicks for each permission unless you allow all permissions on the page. Some sites have 3 or more permissions that I might be OK with, or need to approve to get something to appear on the page. So as it is I need to pop the menu up for each one, each one a mouse click I didnt need before. Id prefer to click off the menu, than have to keep opening it up for sites requiring more than one permission. However if you prefer it, it would be nice if it was a simple setting change.

Oh. You need to actually hover the mouse over the NS toolbar / statusbar icon to get the sticky menu.

If someone else hasn't already, I'll report the post for you.

Sticky menu's are still the default.

Fixed.

You don't need to.
You can set up the new Profile as a test.
No need to import or export anything. Just install NoScript into it & see how the menu behaves.

Ah thankyou for the advice and killing that linked pic, with the help of the links in the post above this one (thanks Hecuba's daughter), I created a profile and called it, 'Test NoScript'. While in the new profile I installed NoScript, then checked the NoScript menu, it behaved exactly the same. It drops down when i click a single permission. The settings appear to be the same ones as for the other profile as I then went into the about:config. The setting was set to true for noscript.stickyUI . I noticed while in there there was a few different settings that were "user set" and I had not set anything on that profile.

Does anyone else have my issue?

I can reproduce it if I click the "options" button like your image shows

you need to actually hover the mouse over the NS toolbar / statusbar icon to get the sticky menu
is the issue really that you don't have a "noscript" toolbar button?

Ah, you're right; if you use the yellow notification bar to launch the menu, then it's not sticky. The same applies if you use the context menu. I'm not sure whether Giorgio could change this.
