brightcove.com videos will not load

Post by access2godzilla »

Brightcove videos will not load with FF 24 ESR and NS 2.6.8.9 (the UA below is fake).

URL: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/12/ ... om-2013/2/

arstechnica.com, arstechnica.net and brightcove.com are allowed, others are forbidden/untrusted.

If Flash is forbidden, when one of the images of the videos are clicked, I get a placeholder for Brightcove's "bootloader" SWF. Upon clicking it, I get the image which I clicked upon earlier. However, if I disable Flash blocking, I do get the video.

Do I need to enable/disable some option somewhere in Noscript? (Allowing all flash is not an option.)

Appears unrelated (to NoScript).
The video fails in FF24 (at least in TOR with NoScript disabled).
Must have been something in the TOR version.

Plain FF24esr is working for me.

In NoScript, right?

I see the "regular" NoScript Flash placeholder, NoSrcipt logo upper left, Flash icon dead center.

I'm looking at the "Ars Drone Disater redux" clip on that page.

You're talking about Tor Browser, right? I'm not using it - I do use Tor from time to time but I always use Foxyproxy + Tor.

Yeah.

I'm talking about the videos within the articles (Moto X/iPad etc.) For me, when I click on one of the videos, Noscript's flash placeholder appears. I click on the placeholder, and then:
  • If Flash is forbidden, I get back the image which I clicked on.
  • If Flash is not forbidden, things work as usual.

I'm talking of the videos within the Arstechnica article referred above. Scroll down a bit and you'll find some videos regarding Moto X and iPad.

The videos there work for me.
I click the placeholder, the video plays.
