whitelist auto adds web sites

Post by kengprice »

My whitelist auto adds practically every site, first, second, third etc. domain with out me adding them. I have added maybe 20 myself and keep finding over 100 on the list. :(
I have searched the forum for a solution to this problem, but only get others questions or replies that say resolved, but with out the solution that was used. The one posting that was even close, says to open about:config then to do something that has no where to do it. :?
A clear and strait forward, non, geek solution would be nice.

Did you by any change check NoScript Options|General|Temporarily allow top-level sites by default?

No I have not, it is unchecked. But, just after I posted, it dawned on me that any site I clicked on allow all this page" would then be interred into the whitelist.
So now that I know why it happens, is there a way to prevent it so that only sites that I add to the white list will appear and not just any site I clicked on "allow all this page".

"Allow all this page" means exactly what it says - Allow anything referenced by this page by adding it to the whitelist.

If you only want it to be for the current session, use the "Temporarily allow all this page" that appears above it.

If you want to allow the site itself but nothing else, you need to allow just the specific site name that matches the site you're visiting. This may not give you everything as many sites use external dependancies to provide their content.
