[RESOLVED] NoScript icon is missing in bottom toolbar

Post by Bill »

A few days ago the NoScript icons disappeared from my toolbar. It used to be right next to the time at the lower right of my screen.

I tried the right click on toolbar suggestion, but it did not bring up the configuration choice that is supposed to appear. I am on Firefox 2.0.0.20

It is still running, as I get the Scripts Currently Forbidden message with the "Options" button at the right. How do I get the Java, Javascript and NoScript icons back in the toolbar?

I think we're talking about the status bar at the bottom of the browser, not the toolbar at the top, right?
If you have the top toolbar icon, open the NS menu by clicking the down arrow next to the NS Logo > Options > Appearance > Status Bar icon checked. OK > appears instantly.

Does this fix it?

Yes, I meant the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

There is no NS logo at the top of my screen. I don't recall there ever being one there.

Oops! I found the problem. Somehow the "View Status Bar" was unclicked.

If you would like to have one there, right-click on the Firefox top toolbar and click "Customize". There should be a NS icon in the box, which you can drag to the desired location on whichever toolbar you like.

NoScript icon is missing in status bar

Post by Oliver »

Hi there,

I'm a bit devastated because since today I can't make the NoScirpt icon appear in the corner of the status bar anymore. I read this post http://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1431, went through 1 and 2 and then just installed portable Firefox and first version 1.9.3.3 to see if NoScript works on a clean installation. Well, it still doesn't! Actually, it works (because it blocks all scripts) but I can't see it. Also, I can't add the NoScript icon to the toolbar: it's just not there as an option. I uninstalled 1.9.3.3 and installed the development build 1.9.4.7 - to no avail. What could be wrong here?

I'm on an x64 German Vista Business machine, Firefox is up to date (3.0.11) and I'm clueless...

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Hi again,

I can't believe it but restarting my OS fixed the problem. I hadn't tried that before because I was doing a virus scan but now I thought I'll give it a shot. Well, if anyone has similar problems: looks like the magic reboot still works with Vista!

Cheers, Oliver

Using Firefox 3.0.11 and NoScript 1.9.3.3 on Windows XP SP3, and after automatic windows updating process, the noscript icon in the status bar disappeared.
After digging into the problem, I saw that "Update for .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 x86 (KB963707)" failed to install. After deinstalling this update the icon reappeared.
Now i only need to know how to get a clean installation of this update :) WAU fails every time it tries to install :)

installation problem solved, too.
This update fixes a bug(?) in the firefox addons "Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant" and "FFClickOnce" which I both had deactivated. Activating them( to make sure) and closing firefox before installation of the update helped a lot. Who would have guessed :D

Mejloc gets it right. KB963707 failed to install properly for me, too. I couldn't find a way to uninstall the botched update but resolved the issue anyway by following the manual deinstallation steps at Microsoft's support article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963707

After manually removing Firefox's .NET Assistant, the update seem to apply cleanly.

NoScript icon is missing in bottom and top toolbar

Post by weat »

Hi, Noscript has suddenly disappeared from bottom toolbar, and is no longer in the customise menu from the top toolbar. However, it still seems to be blocking javascript as can't for example get pop up boxes on websites to upload photos. Have tried reinstalling it, as well as older versions of Noscript which were working, and reinstalling firefox - I am on the latest version 3.5.7.

I suddenly had this problem as well, tried all the suggestions listed above and no luck, but then I disabled an extension for HP SmartWeb Printing 4.60 as a solution to an error for TabMix Plus and voila, the NoScript icon returned. Strange this was that this occurred after the most recent Windows Vista Update. Hope this helps.

It was the same for me, the bottom toolbar disappeared and also xmark button but removing HP SmartWeb Printing 4.60 made them come back.
