Interpals

Post by Guest »

Hi,
I have some problems with www.interpals.net and NoScript.
First is that tiny icons are not loaded. I can fix that when I disable "forbid to reload fonts with @font-face". Is that option important? Why do I have to allow it for every site and not just for trusted sites?
The second problem is by viewing photos on that page. Normally, you do one click to get to the next photo. The next photo is preload bfore I can see it. Every domain is trusted in my NoScript, but it's not working like it should. I have to click 2 times to get to the next photo. I am not able to find an option to fix it, only when NoScript is disabled completly, but this can't be the sense... What can I do?
Thank you very much and have nice holidays.

Anything in the Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+J or Tools-Web Developer-Browser Console)?

I can't easily verify this, since I don't have an account there.

search the internet for "font vulnerability" and decide for yourself...

you don't
noscript options -> embeddings -> uncheck "apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too" ?
if fonts aren't coming from a site marked as untrusted, you could whitelist the font through the noscript.allowedMimeRegExp about:config preference
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

@barbaz
Oh, thank you, you gave me the right tip. The icons are on another domain and I had to look on "Blocked Objects" (I never gave that attention, so sorry for my beginners problem)
You see these icons already on the homepage without being loged in: "Find a penpal" "Learn a language" etc. But now it works :) So no reason to disable @font-face

Sadly it's not the solution for the image problem. Everything is allowed, but it's not the same like without NoScript.
When you open a photo, the url is like: http://www.interpals.net/photo.php?pid=199560111 (the numerals are random to make no relation to a person)

Without NoScript the next photo will load in URL with an adition in URL. Like that: http://www.interpals.net/photo.php?pid= ... /199560133

With NoScript this addition comes also with the new photo. But on the second click, it doesn't load a new photo with #/XXXXX, it loads the direct URL from the current photo (without #). On the third click, it loads finally the second photo (with #). I hope you understand ^^

Is this helpful?

I'm not sure whether NoScript is interacting with URL fragments. Giorgio would be able to say more.

Unfortunately not (I should have mentioned that you can turn off CSS messages since they don't matter, but there was nothing significant there anyway).

After 3 more new version of waiting it is still not fixed and no one cares. Seems like I have to delete it. I don't see the sense to allow everything and still have a broken website. I thought NoScript is for more security on unkown websites, not breaking websites I trust. Thanks for reading.
