can noscript protect against that buffer jpg exploit?

Post by eltelelel »

i did not realize how old the article i read off it was but i want to know anyway it was dated back in 2004, it is called the
"Buffer Overrun in JPEG Processing (GDI+) Exploit"
i searched for it on google seeing if anyone knew if this type of exploit was protected by noscript? cause i want to be able to visit unknown sites without having to worry about viruses. it is only till i know the site is safe that i allow that site,

im guessing if it was back in 2004, it would be past history and todays updates for windows or anti virus programs would stop it. i am taking extra caution over the summer cause thats what i would like to call "hacker season" since schools out i guess the script kiddies have more time on their hands. it may be coincidental, but for the summer of 2007 and 2008, bad things happened to my computer
in 2007 my computer needed to be reformatted cause of over 70,000 traces of viruses and in 2008, i lost internet for no reason till i reformatted, but i doubt i got any virus in 2008.

http://support.microsoft.com/search/ and enter "GDI+. Same with any other such questions.

I remember at least one, and possibly several, updates to the GDI files, and others to the entire image-rendering syste. Why are you asking now, and why did you not take these patches when they were issued? If your system is properly patched, NS is not pertinent to this particular issue.
