[part 1 - broken into parts to avoid the f-ing spam filter]

- Vista
- FF 23.0.1
- Flashgot 1.5.5.8

I can't download mp4 720p video.

Example:

Welcome to YouTube Space LA

A gm script works though: YouTube Center.

In the dxwnload dropdown I selected 720p mp4 and it gave me this link...

... I stuck it into Downthemall and it grabbed it.

Even in code tags - the example link is marked as spam.

Likely a xwdownload issue, rather than a FlashGot one: FlashGot correctly grabs that video for me when I use Firefox's built-in download manager.
Notice that you can choose to use Firefox's built-in download manager or even DownThemAll with videos detected by FlashGot, from the FlashGot Options|Media panel.

I'm quoting myself. Since I'm in a better mood - I'm using a friendly ID.

I'm not a programmer so if this advice is silly - just go ahead and ignore it: why not have a look at how the gm script creates download links?

The script works flawlessly and it also never requires "start" to be clicked to show the download links. The links are there after the script loads.

Example: Robot and Frank 2012 FULL MOVIE

The script works - there are download links.

But flashgot fails 100%. Even clicking "start" doesn't allow a download.

Again I know I'm not a programmer but I really don't understand flashgot's continuing problems at youtube. If a script works - why can't the add-on???

It works for me with flashgot latest development build 1.5.5.9rc1. Which FlashGot version are you using?

They were due to Youtube steadily changing its signature decoding algorithm.
Thanks to the contribution of the developer who calls himself "user", this is hopefully a problem of the past because now we've got algorithm sniffing built-in in FlashGot.
I'd dare say FlashGot at this moment has much better chances to grab newest Youtube videos than any GreaseMonkey script out there.
Please send me a link if you find a counter-example.

I'm using the most recent AMO version of Flashgot.

I use Flashgot + Dowmthemall

Here's an example - Jaws The Inside Story - of another problem.

The first time I was on that page the Flashgot icon appeared and I grabbed a stream. I think it was a 360p MP4. The problem was the Downthemall wouldn't download the stream - the progress bar was a green/white unmoving barbershop pole.

I grabbed the 360p MP4 with the gm script.

A few minutes ago I went back to the page but it's the other error - there's no icon.

I don't remember the text that goes along with the "green/white unmoving barbershop pole" (In progress?) - I've never had that problem with the gm script.

I simply haven't had any issues the gm script. In fact, I would have given up on flashgot already if not for the script since it's not much fun to have so many issues at Youtube.

I'm using the most recent AMO version of Flashgot.
Please shift to the latest development build then, if you don't want to wait for AMO which is usually outdated, and anyway before reporting any issue (because it may already be fixed, and if it is we're wasting our time).

HI, I'm having the same issue as per this topic title.
For me, too, FG stopped recognizing YT videos while other sites work flawlessly.

I tried everything, then I just created a brand new profile without add-ons.
Then I installed FG 1.5.5.91 and nothing else, but the behaviour didn't change.
So basically, I'm out of ideas and troubleshooting to do.
The only thing I can add is that I only have two plugins: Foxit reader 2.2.3.402 and Flash 11.8.800.94
My FF version is old indeed [ 9.0.1 ] but due to various issues I can't change it.

Any help would really be appreciated.

This. For various reasons, YT downloads are supported only on Fx 17 (ESR) and above.

Uhm, thanks.
It looks like I'm going to have troubles because many addons I use on a daily base wouldn't work on >= 10
Before I start spending my weekend cursing and swearing, are there future plannings to " enable " old FF versions too?

New pic shows FlashGot worked on VEVO as shown by the FlashGot Media (1) in the pic.

I should note that though FlashGot does see something to download from VEVO what it actually downloads is 2 k of garbage files. So no actual video which is disappointing.

Yes, it works on Vevo's Youtube movies now, but you need a recent (and safe) Firefox version.
May I ask why you're so behind?
