Allow specific advertisements

Hello,

I'm a real fan of noscript and requestpolicy, but sometimes I feel a bit guilty when also all advertisements from newspaper website I regularly reed and like are blocked. What is the best way to selectively allow certain advertisements on a specific website?
How do you handle this?

this has nothing to do with "noscript".. "noscript" doesn't block ads..

since your issue has nothing to do with "noscript", i am not going to discuss it, here..

Actually it does.

NoScript blocks.
It doesn't differentiate between good or bad, it assumes, correctly, all is bad.
It doesn't differentiate between a "website" & an "ad".
It blocks (JavaScript from) both.

Now if you Allow "website", you get website.
And if you Allow "ad", you get ad.

You can use ABE - Application Boundaries Enforcer to Allow "ad", but only on select "website".

Since you're already using RequestPolicy, of course, you won't need to delve into ABE.

What you need to do is allow, in NoScript, each domain that serves ads, and each site where you want to permit ads.

Then use RequestPolicy to allow those sites to send requests to the ad domains.

Easiest and most reliable way is to visit each site and do it via the menus, rather than typing it all out.

For Thrawns method to work, I need to turn off the blocking of frames etc also for whitelisted sites, right? Or is there any way to do this only for specific sites?

If the ads are in frames or iframes, then yes. It is possible to allow specific sites, but fiddly; are you comfortable editing about:config?

Allowing frames is not usually a big security risk, anyway, because of ClearClick.
