NoScript toolbar buttons disappear

Post by lupus52 »

Hello,

i use NoScript since years. It is my best tool! But since some month i have a problem very often.

The toolbar-icons and the kontextmenüentry disappears. But NS ist working and blocks the pages like configured. I can not unblock (allow) new pages with scripts. The problem first occured after a Update of FF from Version 18 or 19 ? Last after the Update from 21 to 22. There ist no way to get the buttons oder kontextentry back to be seen. Even not with deinstalling an reinstalling new of NoScript. The only way I found is to reset Firefox and to install all ADD-ONs new. Last FF-Update from 21 to 22 was before some days and I had to reset FF again Today NoScript updatet itself. And there are the buttons and the menuentries lost again. I don't want to reset FF each week.

There must be a way to prevent this bug or to get back the buttons with a simple action. The problem happend on 3 different PCs! All with XP SP3. On my workingstatio where i am wrtiting this text, FF ist completely new installed about 5 days before with Version 22. And some minutes ago Noscript updatet itself and the button and menuentry is lost again. :-( - I don't use any toolbar-tools.

Any help?

best regards
Wolfgang

You should be able to restore the NoScript icon by right-clicking on any toolbar and selecting Customize.

Have you enabled the add-on bar with Ctrl + / ?

You can control the context menu on the Options - Appearance page.

exact this does not work. There is no Icon to restore. An there is no Text in the Kontextmenu. It looks like as NoScript is not installed. But it is and it works!

My Add-On bar is empty because i always move alle Icons of ADD-ONs to the Navigation-Bar right to the URL-Box

NO! I can't - that is the problem! I can switch on / off - nothing happpens. No kontextentry!

I deinstalled NoScript completely an reinstalled it. No icon - no text!

I deinstalled FF an reinstalled it - then I installed all ADD-ONs new automaticly via Sync. No Icon an no text for NoScript!

I resetted FF - ok - now the icon and the text is ok. But all configs from all ADD-ONS are lost. I did it now 3 or 4 times! There must be another way to repair Noscript than to reset FF..

Hello, I have exactly the same problem as described by the original poster. I have tried everything described by Trawn and nothing works. Have this problem since I upgraded (ok, my boy did upgrade me against my will :D ) from the FF 15.0. Since then I can't control noscript and I'm going mad because I have to unblock all script manually in the Options. Absolutely hate it but so far I am resisting a downgrade back to 15.

Can someone help? Thankie.

Disable all other extensions except for NoScript.
Disable all plugins.

If it then works, re-enable until you find what is breaking it.

Hi,

i deaktivated all 18 ADD-ONs but NoScript. NoSript appeared :-)

Then 1 aktivated the first half. NoScript disappeared. And so on.

The bad ADD-ON is "Bookmarks Checker" - I can switch the appearence of NoScript ON/OFF with deaktivatin/aktivating this ADD-ON. I tried more than 5 times.

I use this ADD-ONs for al long time and had never problems. The problem came when NoSript updatet itself.

There are finally 2 BUGs, on in "Bockmarks Checker" and one in "NoScript".

No other ADD-ONs disturbs others.

Link: Bookmarks Checker - check for bad links

He's got a note up there:

"with release FireFox 22 some features are not working right now. We do our best to fix it ASP. Sorry about that. while it's under the review process, you can manually update it".
