I use this tool mostly for putting page content side-by side for scrolling comparisons of large tables. And for comparing different pages at the same site. I prefer it to simpler split-once tools because I often want to view things in several consecutive comparisons.
Very occasionally, a link out from the original main site arises where opening it as a split pane of the current page makes the link's information much more useful.
The new split pane doesn't give access to NoScript toggling for the new site, although I've checked that whitelisted items are respected.
Question: Do I safely assume that NoScript is also preventing active content in the split pane? Proving a negative - the usual problem.
An example of my steps both to split a page and to open a link in a split view follows:
Note that I trust the canstar.com.au domain, but I haven't investigated the ratecity.com.au one.
- Go to http://www.canstar.com.au/interest-rate ... rates.html
Toggle main domain in NS to temp allow.
Context click "split to right" to give the table side-by-side.
Decide to get second opinion from ratecity.com.au, so...
Close RHS split using CTRL W (or click on red cross upper rhs)
Context click ratecity.com.au button upper rhs to "Load in new Pane right"
If I find I need active content in the new domain, I open a new tab and investigate in the conventional way before returning to splitting the original tab.
