JavaScript not working on whitlisted website...
JavaScript not working on whitlisted website...
Hello
I have encounted a rather strange problem with the website aviary.com and I can't fix it myself.
(Aviary is a Flash-based online graphics editing suite.)
Every page I visit says that javascript is not enabled, even after whitlisting the website.
Also... I cannot launch any of the editor tools in the website.
I also tried downloading the quick-launch plugin for the site and the tools open up when I use the plugin to launch them but they don't work right. (The page is whitelisted, I double checked.)
The only way that the pages and tools work right is when javascript is allowed globally.
I am using firefox 3.5 beta 4 (Build 20090423204952) and have updated to the developmental release of NoScript.
I am also running a fully updated windows xp with service pack 3.
As for plugins, I have the latest adobe flash player (10.0 R22), which is the only plugin the website uses.
(It only uses flash inside the graphics tools)
Any help would be appreciated as to making it work whitelisted.
I am very willing to, however, use the website with javascript globally enabled if there is no solution.

Re: JavaScript not working on whitlisted website...
I have had this happen in other version of Fx than yours and be interested in knowing the answer when Giorgio gets to it.

Re: JavaScript not working on whitlisted website...
It's working fine for me with both
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.1pre) Gecko/20090531 Shiretoko/3.5pre
and
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10
with NoScript 1.9.3.6 and Flash 10.0.0.r22
The former seems to match your configuration as well.

Re: JavaScript not working on whitlisted website...
Forgive me boss, I forgot to add that it doesn't happen ALL the time and not always reproducible, even on the same sites that it happens. I have always just assumed its a stuck permission and close my browser and start it again and it "seems" to fix it, at least for a long while and I don't keep track of when and where it happens so can't even say with certainty it happens on the same site or how many times. I was just curious as a matter of protocol, just to know, not a complaint or consistent issue but 100% of the time when I start in safe mode, it works fine. It might also be a 3.0.11 issue, might get fixed when finalized.Giorgio Maone wrote:It's working fine for me with both

FYI. Fx 3.0.11 released rc2 yesterday, 3 June PDT. Have you updated to that yet? Just thought I'd let you know. I haven't tried either of the RCs this time.GµårÐïåñ wrote:It might also be a 3.0.11 issue, might get fixed when finalized.

Re: JavaScript not working on whitlisted website...
Wow, that's strange, it worked perfectly for me on obsolete Fx 2.20 without touching a thing, as soon as I allowed aviary.com and the .swf object.

So after some rather extensive testing (Using a separate install from scratch, disabling add-ons, ect.) I discovered that it was aviary's own plugin (talon available via mozilla addons) that actually causes the site to stop working!
(I do apologize for the misleading post earlier... I got over excited.)

Re: JavaScript not working on whitlisted website...
Do you mean that even if NoScript is disabled, Talon causes the problem to happen? Or should I investigate a conflict between Talon and NoScript (well, actually it would be better if the Aviary guys did it, since Talon is experimental with ~500 downloads/week)?AlexHamilton wrote:So after some rather extensive testing (Using a separate install from scratch, disabling add-ons, ect.) Sorry, I forgot to tell that I also tested to see if aviary was causing the problem when noscript isGiorgio Maone wrote:Do you mean that even if NoScript is disabled, Talon causes the problem to happen? disabled (in the add-ons list). The site works fine with talon enabled and noscript disabled.
When talon is enabled and noscript is enabled, the aviary site does not work saying that javascript is disabled.
This occurs even when noscript has whitelisted the site.
The aviary tools also do not work but the flash component of the tools do work.
The only working solution while keeping both addons enabled is to enable javascript globally in noscript.
(I am obviously not a good writer... I do apologize...)
