Duplicate file handling

Post by bob »

When you already have a file in the destination folder that has the same name as one you are about to download, Flashgot adds a (1) (2, etc) to the file name.

I wish there was an option to instead pop up a dialog with:

------------------------------------------------------------
This file already exists in the destination folder.
[Download anyway] [Cancel]
------------------------------------------------------------

I know there are sites where the file name always appears the same, so the current handling works well. But for my purposes, I rarely want to download the same file name again. I did a search on "duplicate" here in the forum, and looked through the setup before creating this post. Thanks!

FlashGot does nothing in that regard (I don't think).
It is going to be your download manager (or Built-in) that does that.

FlashGot simply sends a list of files to your download manager.
Up to your download manager how it handles things from there.

If you are using Built-in & if you have it defaulting to a particular directory, I believe you'll see the situation you mention.
If you change it to prompt each time, I believe it will then prompt to overwrite, giving you an option at that point to abort the save.
