[Request for Enhancement] Preventing Meta Refresh

Post by Joe Pistachio »

Could you add a Meta Refresh blocker in a future version of NoScript?
Currently, in Firefox 20, pages using that "trick" redirect automatically without the user being informed, and without possibility to go back to the previous page.

Example on this site: http://ninjavideo.net/
Afters 10 seconds, you get redirected to a youtube video, and can't go back to the original page where you came from.

Options | Advanced -> Untrusted => Block META redirections inside <NOSCRIPT> elements

But in this case it does not help because they are using a different method for the redirect.

In the browser itself you can enable the Preference accessibility.blockautorefresh & that will block it. But that is likely going to end up being too broad a block (IOW blocking it also at sites you wouldn't want blocked).

Pretty sure you can find a META blocking extension or two that would work better.

Thanks for the preference; I didn't know about it.
Until NoScript possibly add this feature, I've found RefreshBlocker, which just does the trick.

Thanks again for your help.
