Are you saying the actual file name is "download.php?id=fd...VectorLinux 6.0 Light.torrent" rather then simply "VectorLinux 6.0 Light.torrent"?

Possibly for the same reason as this, Flashgot Saving Files as Wrong Types/File Extensions, but with curl/wget I wouldn't know what to expect, or not?

If this is one of the sites of which you speak, Safe Browsing: Diagnostic page for empornium.us, I'd advise you to use NoScript before perusing such sites.
