Flashgot breaking links

Post by vertigo145 »

Hi,

Was trying to download the Humble Indie Bundle here http://www.humblebundle.com/ and noticed flashgot would send bad links to the download manager (aria2 on windows, in my case, but I have also tried Axel). The link was correct, except it appends a "%20" (without quotes) onto the end of the link, thereby making it invalid. A good way to reproduce it, after randomly downloading things on the internet, I found this link: http://www.coolrom.com/roms/snes/7968/S ... _World.php

Try to download the rom, there will be a %20 on the end of the link that flashgot sends to the download manager, and it won't work :(

Downloading it via firefox built-in works fine, and in the case of the Humble Indie Bundle, simply copying/pasting the link from the browser into aria2 works a treat. The correct link is also in firefox's built in manager, via right-click/copy download link. I'm on latest firefox, latest version of the addon, latest aria2 and my command line is just [URL] in this case. Any ideas/workarounds/fixes?

Thanks!

PS. another way to test it is with the "Unplug" firefox addon, try to download any youtube video with it via flashgot, same deal with the %20

Reason: wrap your URL in the tag to prevent cropping

Has anyone else encountered this? I just can't think of anything that would cause this on my end

Perhaps something to do with the cli options? The template is greyed out (running windows may be the reason) so maybe the link needa more than a [URL], any chance someone could post the built-in CLI settings for Aria2?

I can't speak to your specific situation per se but using my own downloader and FlashGot, I was fine, nothing went wrong and the link was passed correctly. I think something with your downloader might have changed that affects how they handle the links and that is causing the issue. Have you tried switching to another downloader and see if the problem persists?

Here is why:

1) If you switch to another downloader and it works fine, shows that FG is not the problem, the links are fine, and the downloader changed something in the way they handle the links passed to them.

2) If you switch to another and it still breaks and doesn't work, then its possible that FG is mangling or not processing the link properly or something. So why don't you give this a shot and see what happens, because it works for me and I don't use your downloader.

Best alternate to test with would be using the built-in downloader.

I had the same problem some time ago and after changing cli options it was solved.
