[RESOLVED] Unable to see noscript logo since last update

Post by Alain »

Hi
Please excuse my english, i'm a poor french ;-)

It seems that since the last update i'm not able to see the logo of noscript in my toolbar.
I don't made any change in my config which could explain it.
I use windows seven for 64 bits processors.
I uninstall, restart firefox (17.0.1) and re-install noscript.
Noscript is active.
I try to custimize a toolbar but noscript is not in the list.
No noscript in context menu...

What else may I try ??

Many thanks in advance

Hi all

I must add one thing :
When I start firefox, I can't see noscript's logo.
All javascript is forbidden and I can't accept javascript for one website since I can't reach noscript.
So I go to extension management, I stop (unactive) noscript and then all javascript is accepted.

Thank's

FR FlashGot'r had missing icon too, FF 17.0.1 and Flashgot?

Hi
I deactivate all plugins and all extensions.
Just keep noscript activated.
The problem is always the same.

Thank's

You can try the standard diagonstic prodcedure:

1. Install FEBE (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/febe/) and take a backup of your extensions, themes, search plugins etc. I do not recommend backing up sessions or user preferences since the fault might be lying in these two areas (some buggy extension wrote a preference value that broke Noscript etc.). If you need extensions preferences, do it from the extension itself. For example, for Noscript, use the import/export feature within Noscript.

2. Run Firefox in safe mode and reset Firefox.

3. Reinstall the backed up extensions, starting with Noscript. Install Noscript first, and see if you can get back the icon (you should be able to).

4. Reinstall the other extensions, in the order of usage: from the most used to the least used.

You should be able to understand which extension is causing the problem.

@access2godzilla: That is a good option, but actually the standard diagnostic involves creating a new blank profile, rather than using FEBE to make a backup. You can run multiple profiles at once, and choose between them on startup.

By the way, you can use the { cleantest } shortcut to refer to this process.

Thank's for yours answers.
There is a beginning for a solution ;-)

Effectively, in a new profile, noscript works well.
But FEBE did'nt restore my extensions, only the plugins Grrrr :-)
So, in the new profile, i will reinstall and configure my extensions.
I choose my profile on every start of firefox ...
Where is the white list of noscript ? could be usefull for me to retrieve all the permitted sites ...

But, maybe you know, there is a new year coming soon and I'll have something other to do :-)
So I'll go back in 2 or 3 days to continue with my extension and tell you if the problem is solved (it should !).

Many thank's until the next year !

One reason for creating a clean profile from scratch is that it is possible that the old profile itself was corrupted, rather than any individual extension.

prefs.js file, under
user_pref("capability.policy.maonoscript.sites"

However, if you have the old profile, you can open NS Options > Whitelist, and use the Export button to save the whitelist to a text file, which can then be imported into the new profile.

Or you can use the Export button at the very bottom of the Options window (regardless of tab), which will export *all* NS settings. Again, import them to the new profile using the corresponding Import button.
Many thank's until the next year !
