I also think it could be pain to maintain it, solving some sidee ffect due refused connection.
There are many free services that offer Hosts files updated regularly.
As said, we are going off-topic here. If you wish to discuss use of Hosts file, you are free to start a new topic in Forum Extras > Security.
Or search this forum for HOSTS, and see if one of those threads is suitable.
This one cites the service I personally use. (That is not an official endorsement, of course.) It mentions what adjustments are recommended to the file provided by these services.

No doubts, my point was hosts does not help in hiding on site element. I know in this case it is not about security or performance.
