Redirecting downloads with FlashGot?

Post by Maro »

Hello,
I just installed the FlashGot extension for Firefox (using 64 bit Firefox) and the "Free Download Manager" (not the firefox extension) and set FlashGot to use that.
It works when I set FlashGot to use this Manager when I do Alt+Click, or highlight the link/image and then use FlashGot over the context-menu.

However, I just want FlashGot to redirect All my downloads from now on. Meaning, I want to use FlashGot whenever I choose "Save as..", "Save image as.." etc. without needing to highlight anything.
In the "Settings" - "Downloads" Tab there are options "Redirect all downloads" or only for specific file extensions. (not sure if those are the actual wordings, I'm using the german version)
Both seem to have no effect. If I "Save image as.." for example, the standard firefox download manager still pops up.

Is something not working here or am I understanding this feature the wrong way? If that's the case, is there a different way to use FlashGot for All my downloads?

Flashgot should be on your context menu, and on the download file dialog, so you should be able to use Flashgot instead of clicking Save As or Save Image As.

Yes, as I said that works. That didn't answer my question though.
The problem is that I never use the context menu, but either Ctrl-S or mostly shortcuts to its functions set by a different add-on.
That Add-on only includes native firefox functions however, so I want the usual "save as.." to open with FlashGot.

Since there is a setting say "redirect all downloads" which exactly sounds like what I want, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
So what does that "redirect all downloads" checkbox in the downloads tab in settings do, if not, well.. redirect all downloads?

Ctrl+S doesn't qualify as a download, but "Save page as" and as such is not intercepted by the "Intercept all downloads" option which you correctly identified as the one you need.

Could you name it, so I can take a look and see if it's suitable?

BTW, FlashGot has its own shortcuts such as ctrl+F1, ctrl+F2, ctrl+F3 and ctrl+F4.
