2.5.8 failing

Post by Jojo999 »

Something is bad about the NS 2.5.8 release. I am seeing a constant red S icon in the status bar on each page. Elements on pages are not displaying.

Example (IE8 vs. FF)

How do I fall back to the 2.5.7 release?

I don't understand what you are trying to communicate.

Allow noscript.net WHERE (and HOW)?

And how did you jump to this conclusion based on the screenshot I attached?

Thanks.

A lot of websites are not working after 2.5.8. It looks to me like everything is FLIPPED. Previously good sites are blocked while bad sites are allowed.

I wonder how many people are going to wind up with malware infections because of this update?

2.5.8 needs to be replaced quickly!

Could you please use the "Export" button on the bottom of your NoScript Options window and send me the saved files by email ( http://maone.net )?
Thank you.

You likely have the NoScript Options|Advanced|HTTPS|Forbid active web content unless it comes from a secure (HTTPS) connection preference set to "When using a proxy (recommended with Tor)".
If you do, it should be fixed in latest development build 2.5.9rc1. Please confirm, thanks.

Yes I did. I don't know how that got set since I don't use TOR or proxies.

Why didn't it cause a problem in previous releases? The only reason I opened options yesterday was because of this problem and I don't think I turned it on then.

Because you don't use a proxy. The bug fixed in 2.5.9rc1 is about older Firefox versions (like yours) causing NoScript to believe they're proxied when they're not.

Turns out that was a bug I was seeing.

Bug 786009 - js has to be enabled to parse rss-feeds (regression?)
Bug 804411 - JavaScript has to be enabled to parse feeds

(I had to leave the URL out of the quote above because it's tripping the spam filter here.) Just wanted to advise that even in 2.5.9rc2, NoScript thinks I'm (always) using a proxy. I think what's confusing it is the GoogleSharing add-on (version 0.22.2). It's supposed to only proxy connections to Google. For the time being I'll disable the "forbid" option -- it's great that you found the issue, even if it's not quite "there" yet. :) Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Now that Firefox is running scripts again I can use it to post here instead of IE. lol

I thought I should add that I'm on Firefox 16.01.

I assumed that you were spoofing your user agent :).

You can use this site without JavaScript, by the way. You won't be able to click on the smilies or rich formatting buttons, but otherwise it works.
