VerizonWireless & Apply To Whitelisted & PDF Bills

Post by therube »

VerizonWireless & Apply To Whitelisted & PDF Bills
NoScript 2.7.5rc5
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:18.0) Gecko/18.0 Firefox/18.0 SeaMonkey/2.15a2
Build identifier: 20121010013014

URL: http://www.verizonwireless.com/

set 'Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too'
allow verizonwireless.com & vzw.com

log into your account
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/inde ... =myaccount
(personal account I'm looking at, will try business tomorrow...)

click 'View Online Bill'
https://ebillpay.verizonwireless.com/vz ... ary.action

in the dropdown, select a period other then the current
(in my case, 1 month old, July 19 to August 18)
screen refreshes & shows "Bill Period: July 19, 2012 - August 18, 2012"

above that is a link, 'View Printable Bill'
click that
a tab opens
https://ebillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/accountholder/mybill/PrintDownload.action?tk=o5o742z...]

click the placeholder
(depending on plugin or not, it will open in the browser or you are prompted what to do, so either view in browser or download & open)

the PDF bill that results is not for the period requested, July to August, but instead from August to September.

Disable set 'Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too' & repeat.
This time, the correct PDF is obtained.

The business end does not display PDF in the browser, so no placeholder, so not affected.

Instead of the 'View Printable Bill' (in personal) there is a 'Download My Paper Bill' (PDF being one option) & a 'Download' button.

This does not attempt to open in the browser, but instead goes directly to a download dialog.

Not exactly.

The bug only occurs when you are using a PDF plugin (Acrobat Reader in my case) & NoScript presents you with a placeholder.

If you click the placeholder to display in browser, you get the wrong period.
If you 'Save Link Target As' on the placeholder, you get the wrong period.

If you disable the Plugin (Ctrl+Shift+A) or if you disable 'Apply these restrictions to...' , then no placeholder, & the correct PDF gets downloaded.

What happens if you use the Blocked Objects submenu to temporarily allow all objects from the site, then reload the page?

Have you tried a different PDF plugin? Or pdf.js?

Does the business account download the correct PDF?

Will have to try tomorrow (the real tomorrow, not like above ;-)).

> Have you tried a different PDF plugin? Or pdf.js?

Not sure how to get Foxit's plugin to work & really don't want to find out.
PDF.js (which does work in SeaMonkey, except I couldn't get the Save function to work?) works correctly.
Though it is not generating a blocked object placeholder & being blocked, the placeholder, seems to be a precondition for the bug.

Yes.
