If there are more symptoms solved by allowing "googleusercontent.com" it might help to add them in a Reply for others to see.
This may or may not be one, too, but I'll link it because it's how I found out about "googleusercontent.com":

PROBLEM:
I went through a nightmare since the newest incantation of Gmail's DHTML webmail interface.
After hours disabling security software, then all add-ons, then add-ons one-by-one...and upgrading to the "Development" version of NoScript...I found out NoScript wasn't the problem (as I thought after all that disabling and enabling).
SYMPTOM:
When trying to forward (or send a new) email, in the window for choosing recipients, checking recipients then clicking "Select" erases the check marks and does not add them to the To, Cc, or Bcc fields!
(The window also doesn't close, but it's not supposed to. You may desire to select people from multiple lists, if you have them, so you must click the gray "X" to close the window when you're done.)
SOLUTION:
The new Gmail design uses script(s) from googleusercontent.com (plus gmail.com and gstatic.com, of course). You need to allow these for the new Gmail to work properly.
(For all I know, this is whitelisted by default, but since I have NoScript configured to block everything until I allow it, I had to discover it the hard way!)

Thanks.
Now that I think of it, "googleusercontent" does sound quite strange, one could assume it's user-generated content and therefore in case of doubt more likely not allow it.
