daily motion and mp4 downoading at 2gb

Post by Tony8832 »

I download mostly on dailymotion. When I do if the format is mp4 (what I want to download) and basically the format the uploader used. The size of the file is not the size of video.. its downloading that the file is 2gb. No matter if the video is 2min to 10min. High quality or standdard quality. If it downloads as a flv its fine. I noticed when dailymotion made some changes to there web site it started. How can I fix? I had no problem before. I use firefox most recent 13 0 .1 and the most recent flashgot. Running XP.

URLs?

Well obviously the download itself is not going to be 2GB.
But that is kind of what is being reported by the site.

And if you actually download it, then what?

Shows as 15 MB, Saragossa Band - Zabadak.

Don't worry about the size it is showing. Most of the time that's the cap size that is reported incorrectly and the actual download will be whatever the actual size of the file is. I download regularly from a site that shows EVERYTHING as 2043 but it is never more than 4-23 MB in size. So that's just incorrect reporting by the server or it doesn't properly support size reporting or FG's size method can't determine the actual size. Doesn't mean your download will actually be 2gb, Giorgio recently tried a trick to get sizes to show up better than 2043 or ??? but it is hit and miss with different services and servers, so just proceed as usual if you want the file, chances are the size is actually much smaller.

Same problem is happening to me, I always downloaded the news video with no problems, but now the video plays but there is no way to download it.
I suspect there is some kind of copy-protection, for a news program is totally absurd to do that; the file is a flv type bit-rate 3.
The video file may be smaller than the 2 GB, downloaded in the background, is there a solution to this problem?
