I was (probably ill-)advised to reset Firefox to its factory defaults. I didn't realise that this would remove NoScript and set up a new Firefox profile for me. Now I've lost all the carefully-honed script options that I've set up over the years.
I gather that these options are part of my Firefox profile (which I've found on C:\Users\Peter_2\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\58zr6guh.default) but can't see anything there which looks like a long list of NoScript options. There's a file called NoScriptSTS.db but this is only 1kb long which I'm sure isn't big enough for all the sites I allow scripts from.
Anyone know how to get my sites back. Please!

There's a file called "prefs.js" in your old profile.
Open it with a text editor, and copy any entry containing the string "noscript" or "maonoscript" in the in the prefs.js file of your new profile, while Firefox is not running.

Thanks a lot. I assume you mean entries which start something like: user_pref("noscript.... and user_pref("capability.policy.maonoscript....
There are also some entries mentioning noscript as a site (not sure what they're there for but they seem to belong to another extension).

Re: How can I restore NoScript options after a re-install?
As for preserving your NoScript options and configuration, you can go into NoScript Options, click on Export, save that file and then when you install NoScript in a new profile, just use the import and voila, you are exactly back where you left off.ptoye wrote:I was (probably ill-)advised to reset Firefox to its factory defaults. As for your sites, if you mean the NoScript ones, covered above and also as Giorgio mentioned but if you mean your bookmarks (Fx now calls them places) just fine your places.sqlite file in the old profile, drop it in the new profile folder, overwrite the new one and when you open up, you have all your "bookmarks" again. Hope that helps.
In the meantime, you can manually get everything back by hacking your old prefs.js file if you still have it and transfer the NoScript section of it to the new prefs.js like Giorgio suggested and you'll have most if not all of it back again. All settings for NoScript BEGIN with noscript. or manoscript. so you are not looking for the noscript keyword in other places in the setting, JUST in the actual name of the setting. Hope that helps you figure out which ones are specifically related to NoScript and just using the term.

Thanks.
Of course, telling me to export is being wise after the event. But I seem to be back roughly where I should be.

Never hurts to be fully informed and ready with options should it happen again in the futureptoye wrote:Thanks.
