been using noscript for awhile and the option key stopped working a few days ago - was working great but now it is not - have uninstalled, reinstalled and still.....any ideas anyone??

The icon is there, but it does not open?
What version of NoScript do you have installed?
If you disable all other extensions, will it then work?
As a test, does it work in a new, clean Profile?
(Not related, but are you able to use FF 3.5.16 rather then the more outdated 3.5.6?)
