"Block every object" checkbox effect

Post by nobrowser »

Hi. First my environment:

Iceweasel 10.0.5
Noscript 2.1.4
scripts globally enabled -- I know, but browsing is becoming just f*ing =unusable= :-(

Now my question. I don't understand what the option "Block every object coming from a site marked as untrusted" does. If read literally, how is this any different than "Forbid other plugins" 2 lines above? But even more importantly, toggling this option seems to have an odd effect on the menus. When it is checked, the menus look the way I expect them with the global enable; that is, a newly visited site shows up in the top level of the menu, with the red "stop" icon and a prompt to mark the site untrusted, like this:

ø Mark noscript.net as Untrusted

But, when "Block every object" checkbox is =off=, instead I get a menu item like this:

S Allow http://noscript.net

So does that mean scripts from noscript.net are blocked now? That would be a quite unexpected effect of turning off the checkbox. Also, note the scheme is prepended now for some reason ...

I like noscript, but I wish there was a clear documentation of each option.
Thanks for your help!

If you have a site specifically "blacklisted" (untrusted), then no objects will ever run from those domains.

The rest, an oddity & or bug? Looks odd to me.
